John Gibson, Norridgewock, President
Jack lives in Norridgewock and is a retired veterinarian and former owner with his wife Gail of the Animal Medical Clinic in Skowhegan. He is a member of Kennebec Valley Chapter Trout Unlimited, former board member of the Natural Resources Council of Maine and member of various other conservation organizations. He was an original board member of Lake George Regional Park and served as its president for 9 years.

Ernest Hilton, Starks, Vice President
Ernie lives on a family farm in Starks and is a practicing attorney and professional engineer in Madison. He previously worked in the legal division for the Maine Public Utilities Commission on early conservation dockets. He was a member of the Maine Board of Environmental Protection for over 9 years. He was a founding member of the Central Pennsylvania Conservancy in Carlisle, PA, and has been involved in a number of historical societies, conservancies and local town government.

Davida Barter, Skowhegan, Secretary
Davida lives in Skowhegan and is currently employed at the law firm of Wright & Mills in Skowhegan. She is active in community affairs, being a member of GFWC/Semper Fidelis Club and past president of the Skowhegan Chamber of Commerce. She served as Skowhegan selectperson for 13 years. She has served on many of Skowhegan’s boards: Skowhegan Economic & Development Corporation, Ordinance Committee, Budget & Finance Committee, Recreation Advisory Board, and many others.

Chris Young, Caratunk, Treasurer
Chris and wife Becky reside in Caratunk. A retired history and social sciences teacher, Chris also served for 22 years in various capacities for the Town of Caratunk, including as Code Enforcement Officer, Chair of the Planning Board, First Selectperson and Tax Assessor. Currently working as a building contractor and furniture maker, he continues to be an avid outdoor enthusiast who enjoys skiing, mountain biking, hiking and fishing.

John Alsop, Cornville
John has lived in Cornville for the past 45 years. A retired lawyer, he now serves as a County Commissioner and as a long-time board member of the South Solon Historical Society. He is a lifelong enthusiastic canoeist and canoe tripper and a Registered Maine Guide. In retirement John spends his time gardening, cycling, skiing, logging, camping, guiding, paddling, and painting, He is pleased and proud to serve on the Somerset Woods board.

Andy Davis, Solon
Andy and his wife Sarah moved to Solon in 1983. A retired Social Worker for the State, Andy was active on the local school board for 18 years, the majority of these years as Chair. Andy is currently the Chair of the South Solon Historical Society whose main focus is the South Solon Meeting House. Andy enjoys gardening, bike riding, X-Country skiing, and just being in the woods.

Ann Dorney, Norridgewock
Ann and husband Dave live in Norridgewock. Ann is a retired family doctor, having practiced in Skowhegan for almost 40 years. She is a former State legislator, an avid birder, and lover of the natural world.

Kate Drummond, Madison
Kate grew up in Highland Plantation in the shadow of the Bigelow Mountain range. She has been a science teacher for 21 years, first at Carrabec High School and currently at Skowhegan Area High School. She was lucky enough to have spent every summer at Cobb’s Pierce Pond Camps as a child, and as a result, has grown into a lifelong outdoor enthusiast and advocate for the environment. She is a trained Maine Master Naturalist and helps to advise the Eco Team and the Outing Club at Skowhegan Area High School.

Patty Hager, Mercer
Patty lives in Mercer with her husband Brad. After working in high schools in California and Massachusetts, she retired as Academic Dean at Concord Academy. She has served on a variety of educational boards, as well as on the board of the Natural Resources Council of Maine. Her family has strong affinity for Maine's rivers, especially the Kennebec, and for Canadian waterways to the north. With deep admiration, Patty’s dad often spoke of Louise Coburn’s visionary founding of Somerset Woods Trustees; now the organization greatly inspires her.

Eric Lahti, East Madison
B.A. History, UMO ‘65, M. Ed. History and Social Science UMO ‘73. Retired high school history teacher, retired Master Maine Guide, Seasonal Archaeologist with Maine Historic Preservation Commission. Avid map collector and canoe nut. Eric is an member of the Lake Wesserunsett Association, serving on its Board of Directors and Watershed Conservation Committee.

Sarah Bigney McCabe, Skowhegan
Sarah grew up in Bangor and attended the University of Maine. Though her roots are on the Penobscot, she enjoys exploring the Kennebec Valley since moving to Skowhegan. She spends lots of time outdoors with her family and pup, especially canoeing, cross country skiing, biking and hiking. Sarah is the Organizing Director at the Maine AFL-CIO.

James Verderese, Cornville
Jim and his wife Nancy reside in Cornville, moving to Maine in 2022. Jim has spent most of his life engaged in environmental pursuits of one kind or another. After assisting US EPA with policy development for more than a decade, Jim moved to private industry to promote environmental compliance and stewardship. Both Jim and Nancy recently retired from paid work and are focusing their energy on habitat creation, species diversity, climate change … and on learning how to retire.

Darryll is executive director at Lake George Regional Park. Darryll lives in Skowhegan and serves on the boards of Main Street Skowhegan, Somerset Public Health and Kennebec Valley Tourism Council.
