Thanks to all who attended our North Country Forks Activity Day!

​We had a great time with you!


Noon: Enjoy an easy mountain bike tour on the Kennebec Trail from Solon to Bingham led by Trustee and naturalist Kate Drummond. It’s only 7 miles one-way. Start at Solon, Arnold’s Landing, and return to same location.  No car shuttles needed! Total time:  About 2 hours



Noon:  A easy hike on the proposed Kennebec and Dead River Trails led by Trustee Bob Haynes, also Executive Director of the Old Canada Road.  Total time: 2.5 hours.  Meet at CMP Launch (Dead River).  Walk to Salmon Stream and—optional—return in time  to canoe/kayak with Eric to Northern Outdoors,  Shuttles will be arranged.




1:00 PM:  Enjoy an easy hike up Mosquito Mountain, led by Trustee Warren Shay. Total 2.4 miles; about 3 hours. Meet at Northern Outdoors parking lot at 1:00 PM.


2:30  PM: See Moxie Falls, the tallest waterfall in New England with SWT’s Executive Director, Nancy Williams. Easy but includes about 70 low steps. Total: 2 miles; 1.25  hour  Begin at the parking lot for Moxie Falls (From Route 201, 2.3 miles on the left on Moxie Pond Rd) .  Fun for all ages!  Bring your cameras. Good shoes!  If wet, may be a little slippery.




2:30 PM: A canoe/kayak trip on the Kennebec River. Start at Forks Ball Field and finish at your destination-Northern Outdoors!  Led by Trustee Eric Lahti. Shuttles will be arranged. Back in time for the social hour.

NOTE: Class 1 to low class 2 Rapids, depending on the flow.  For experienced paddlers only.  No



3:00 PM: Children’s scavenger hunt led by Trustee Ann Dorney.  Meet at West Shore Road, Caratunk.  Watch for directional signs on W. Shore Rd.
